Standard Admission:
Masters degrees
Admission to a Masters degree normally requires completion of a minimum of a four-year full-time degree (or its part-time equivalent) from a university recognised by the University of Sydney.
Graduate Diploma / Graduate Certificate
Admission to a Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate usually requires the completion of a three-year degree or qualifications that are of an equivalent level, such as diploma or certificate issued by a professional body.
Special Admission:
If you do not have a four-year full-time equivalent University of Sydney degree, or a four-year degree from another recognised university, then a shorter degree may be acceptable as long as you have:
- non-degree professional qualifications, and/or
- substantial relevant experience, and/or
- additional relevant qualifications
Students who have been awarded the GradDipPH or GradDipIPH (Sydney) and are otherwise eligible for MPH or MIPH enrolment, may apply for acceptance as Master of Philosophy in Public Health/International Public Health candidates.
Uncompleted qualifications:
An uncompleted qualification at the time of application may be taken into account as 'experience' and/or further evidence of suitability for graduate study. However, you must have other completed qualifications and experience on which an application may be based.
Aside from standard admission criteria, students intending on enrolling in a Biostatistics coursework program should also have:
- a proven aptitude for advanced mathematical work - indicated, for example, by a high level of achievement in high school or undergraduate mathematics;
- and already passed an introductory course in statistics (such as PUBH5018 Introductory Biostatistics) - covering, at least, the estimation of means and proportions with confidence intervals, and the comparison of means and proportions between two groups using hypothesis tests.
You may inquire about your eligibility for enrolment, obtain an application form, or apply for acceptance, at any time.
