Graduate Diploma in International Public Health - GradDipIPH
Like the MIPH program, the Graduate Diploma in International Public Health (GradDipIPH) gives you the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge essential for practice in the field of international public health, but it requires less study and the entry requirements are lower.
Areas of study for the GradDipIPH course are the same as those outlined for the MIPH - including the completion of 24 core units of study - but students will only be required to complete 12 credit points of elective units of study.
You may find the GradDipIPH a suitable option if you do not want to take on the full load of study required for the MIPH, or if you did not qualify directly for the Masters degree. An option to upgrade from the GradDipIPH to the MIPH is available, on the basis of successful completion of the core units of study.
Enrolling students are required to complete a total of 36 credit points by the end of the coursework program in order to satisfy GradDipIPH regulations. These can be studied on a full-time or part-time basis.
Full-time - one-year / 2 semesters
OR
Part-time - 1.5 years / 3 semesters
In 2005, the total of 36 credit points includes:
- 24 credit points of compulsory core units of study - which provide you with the basic knowledge and skills for practice as a public health professional, AND
- 12 credit points of elective units of study - where you can specialise within an area appropriate to your career interests, or select units from a number of areas
All core units of study are offered in Semester 1 and elective units are offered in Semester 2.
The table below summarises the course structure and requirements for the GradDipIPH program. NOTE - this table is based on enrolment as a full-time student.
