Course aims

This is a 3-day intensive course aims to give participants:

  • An overview of genetics, genetic epidemiology and genetic information and their roles in health and society
  • An appreciation of the differences between the public health and the scientific and medical contexts of genetics and genetic information
  • Knowledge and understanding of ethical, legal and social issues around genetics and genetic information
  • An ability to anticipate the future relevance of genetics and genetic information to health and society

The course features group discussions and debate, case studies and an eLearning site with access to a comprehensive reading list, notes and self-test quizzes.

Please note that if you are applying as a non-award student you need to complete the application form and attach all supporting documents required except for academic transcripts of your qualifications. We are waiving this requirement for this course only, to simplify enrolment.
