Short Course - Genetics and Public Health

Overview

Nearly every week there is something in the media about genetics! Do you want to get a better understanding of the issues and how they relate to public health?

The Genetics and Public Health short course, run by the School of Public Health at the University of Sydney, is designed for academics, postgraduate students, researchers, health professionals and managers, journalists, decision makers, policy advocates and program planners who wish to gain an understanding of genetics and society in its broadest cross-disciplinary sense.

The course brings together nationally and internationally recognised speakers to cover topics such as genetic science, epidemiology, regulation, law, consumer issues, psychosocial aspects, ethical issues, the media, public health and population health policy.

The course is supported by a comprehensive website with resources to assist participants in getting the most from the short course.

Dates

The course will be held over 3 days from Thursday 9 – Saturday 11 October 2008 at the University of Sydney’s main campus.

Application Deadline

Places are limited and applications deadline is on Thursday 18 September.
