“My research explores pharmacist and dispensers experiences in the provision of services to paediatric patients in two remote communities in North Queensland. In the future I’d like to be involved with the Quality Use of Medicine (QUM) project in a community in north Queensland and also ensuring skill transfer to up-and-coming Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander researchers.”

“For my Master of Philosophy in Public Health, I’m doing an empirical study looking at the impact that alcohol has had on my people, the Kokoberrin who reside in Kowanyana, Cape York Peninsula. The health issues are getting worse; it’s like watching my race dying. So I’m looking at the traditional structure of maternal and child health and how that culture can be used (through the development of appropriate interventions) to reverse the negative impact of alcohol.”

"I grew up in Hong Kong. After I finished a biochemistry degree in Hong Kong, I decided that my future career should be related to health in a broader sense-involving the community. I took the Master of International Public Health (MIPH) in the University of Sydney in 2006, which my classmates were medical or health professionals from all over the globe-South East Asia, North America, Africa, and local Australians, and they have truly broadened my horizons.
After that I took the M. Phil course from 2007-2008. I was privileged to have written two manuscripts for journal publication with my supervisors before working as a research assistant in the Health Promotion Unit of the Sydney South West Area Health Service."
